If you meet the criteria of infertility then you should seek an assessment sooner than later since time is always of the essence for female reproduction. This is especially true if you are over 35 years old since this is the beginning of a rapidly declining phase in a woman's fertility. It is better to ensure that your ovarian reserve is adequate rather than to assume so that you don't have regrets later.

Frequent Roadblocks to Getting Help
-
I'm not sure if I need to see a specialist quite yet. How do I know?
-
How many unsuccessful cycles should I undergo before starting fertility treatment?
This is highly variable depending on your age, diagnosis, overall history, and current emotional state. Dr. Davenport believes that you should be treated at your pace, not his. He will tell you very candidly if he thinks you should move on to the next most aggressive step in your fertility treatment, or if he believes it is okay to remain in a more conservative approach. However, your emotional endurance is every bit as important as your physical needs, and will also be a factor in this decision.
-
I need to understand the ethics behind the various treatment options. What should I do?
Dr. Davenport has a passion for discussing these issues with anyone battling with these questions. Whereas he will not be able to ultimately answer this question for you, he will present you with all of the tools that you need to make your decision with a sound conscience.

I feel like I need fertility help, but cannot afford these services. What should I do?
FINA is committed to helping everyone find the most affordable approach to treat their infertility. Most of our patients find conservative fertility treatment options to be much less costly than they expected. Whereas it is true that many of the more aggressive treatments are quite expensive, we offer INVOCell as a more affordable option for qualified patients. For those who do require even more aggressive treatment such as IVF, we have several partnerships that help make treatment affordable for everyone.
-
I've been told by another provider that I need IVF, but don't know for sure if I should proceed with this as my next step. Do you offer second opinions?
Yes, Dr. Davenport is certainly willing to offer a second opinion and to answer any questions you may have about your next steps.
-
I have frozen eggs, sperm, or embryos at a different facility from a previous cycle. Does your clinic accept transport of these specimens?
Yes, we will certainly accept transport of specimens from an outside clinic. It is best to schedule a consultation so that Dr. Davenport can assess your situation and ensure that this is the best and most efficient course of action for you.
-
I have had my tubes tied or a vasectomy and am now remarried and would like children. Is this possible?
Yes, we can help you overcome both. We can overcome a tubal ligation by either tubal reversal or IVF. We can obtain a successful pregnancy despite a vasectomy by performing a sperm extraction along with IVF.
-
I've been told that I have endometriosis and need IVF. Is this true?
Sometimes IVF is necessary to overcome endometriosis, but not always. It is best to sit down with Dr. Davenport to discuss the location, severity, stage of endometriosis, and prior treatment course before making this decision.
-
I've been diagnosed with cancer and don't have time to freeze my eggs or sperm prior to chemotherapy or radiation. What should I do?
Depending on the type of cancer and type of treatment that you are undergoing, it is oftentimes possible to delay your treatment onset by 1-2 weeks without risk to your cancer. It is also sometimes possible to preserve some of your eggs or sperm even after cancer treatment has begun. Talk to your oncologist then schedule a consultation with Dr. Davenport asap to see if we can successfully coordinate cryopreservation of your reproductive tissue for future use.
-
I've been diagnosed with "unexplained infertility" by another clinic and am having a hard time moving on to IVF or more aggressive therapy with this diagnosis. How will I know the best next step?
Sometimes IVF is necessary with this diagnosis, and other times a diagnosis may have been missed. Let Dr. Davenport sit down with you to review your past workup and treatment course prior to determining if IVF is the best next step. Sometimes a cause of your infertility may be discovered that would allow you to undergo a cheaper and/or more conservative course.
