You can simply thank them for their invite and let them know that you are unable to attend. Keep it short and sweet. “Thank you for the invite, but unfortunately I am unable to attend your special day.” If buying a gift is too difficult, consider sending a gift card.

Whether you’re open about your struggles or are keeping them to yourself, know that whatever decision you make is ok.
